This week I’ve been working in my sketchbook, painting trees. I’ve been practicing with range of shapes and colours that trees come in, and trying to get some nice effects. I’ve been working with a large paintbrush (for me!) to try and simplify the shapes and not get lost in detail.

Here are some reference photos for drawing and painting trees. Many of these were just snapped on my phone when I was out walking, so aren’t the best quality in terms of lighting etc. but hopefully they’ll give you some information for your paintings.
