These two patterns can be found in the Lindisfarne Gospels, in small panels surrounded by intricate knotwork. In these two projects, I show how to draw the repeating tiles using pencil and ruler, then add blue and green watercolour to develop them as pattern pages in their own right.

For the traceable outline, all you need to do is print it out, transfer the outline to your watercolour paper using carbon paper, pencil transfer or by using a light source like a light box. See my video on how to do this if you’re stuck! For the print and paint outlines, simple print onto watercolour paper and get painting!
