Repeating patterns in loops from a circle outwards create a visual metaphor for economic growth, as the loops progress, some expand to take over their neighbour’s territory, others shrink as they face outward pressure from both sides, sometimes to dissapear completely. The pattern is reset every 7 iterations, modelling a pattern of regular debt forgiveness and property redistribution. As the pattern is reset, the loops are restricted from growing further, the ‘loop economy’ still expands but it does not run away into monopolies. I’ve made this a pattern of 7 iterations of 7. 7×7=49. Hebrew scriptures advocate an economic model of regular debt forgiveness every seven years, with every 49 years being an extra ‘jubilee’ year of freedom and celebration.
